Have an old TV that stopped working. Gave the company all of the info on the TV to get the appointment scheduled, including model number and manufactured date. As the tech walks in our door he says, "On, parts aren't available for this TV anymore." He looks at the unit, finds the problem and says there are 2 options to fix it: replace the control board or replace the components to the board. I told him if he could find a whole control board, that would be my preference. 2 weeks later I get a call back saying they will not fix my TV. They can't find a control board... More...

  • Poor Service

I have a contract with the Geek Squad, I bought when my computer had a virus and it was suppose to be good for 1 year. Within the year, I had another virus on my computer and brought it back to the Geek Squad, they said no problem fixing it. Never called me, when I called them, there response was they could not fix it and it would cost me another 100.00 to have it repaired. I think they just hire anyone with very little computer experience and sell you a bill of goods to buy their service. Beware! I brought it to another computer person and the Geek Squad had done more damage to the... More...

  • Terrible Customer Service

We purchased a home theatre system from Best Buy, parent of Geek Squad, last week. Delivery was delayed 5 hours due to the delivery department giving the delivery company deliveries that entailed moving people's houses, it sounded like. However, to day their "experienced technician" sent to set up our whole house system, including blu ray and sound, left us with a brand new 60" TV we can't watch because the power is going through the blu-ray not the TV, so the sat dish is worthless. To top it off, we've been on hold with their 800 number for more than an... More...

  • Worst coustomer service

I bought a samsung 55 led tv and a sony internet bluray dvd player with extended warranty with geek squad from best buy. After few months i had to deal with the customer service of geek squad for repairs or to make a appointment which was the worst experience i had . I tried to make appointment on line and over the phone but was unable to do so . Every time i called i was transferred at least 6 or 7 times to different departments who were just ignorant or maybe never wanted to help to make an appointment even for my repairs. When asked for a supervisor , was put on hold for long and then... More...

  • Geek Squad, No Thanks

Geek squad is a joke! Before you spend hundreds of dollars on a service plan, consider the reviews on this site as the majority of them bear warning. When you bring a computer into Geek Squad without a service plan, be prepared to shell out hundreds of dollars for the "repair". If you're unlucky enough to have a service plan, be prepared to hear that your computer either has a virus, or the hard drive is bad. They will run their version of a diagnostic, which is just a prime number application the stresses the hard drive and causes it to fail. In my situation, I had to bring... More...

  • alternative repair service

It was the week before midterms and I had 3 separate assignments that I had to hand in. So while doing research I somehow got a virus. My laptop started to run slower and slower and I began to receive pop ups promising to enhance my manhood. Paranoia starts to set in when I realize I could lose all of my work and have to retake the entire term. I very quickly started looking for a repair service. I first called these guys at the geek squad and they said to bring it in to get it repaired. Once I took it in, they gave me the spiel and costs and everything. I agreed to it and left it there. I... Geek Squad, has on occasion, services our computers. They've removed viruses once or twice, replaced a hard drive or two, upgraded our ram, and maybe one other thing. I still cant believe that I kept going to these guys after each experience turned out to be questionable. There was always something, an added expense, an extra part of software I had to buy, and optimization here and there. Well, the only thing I can say is LOOK AROUND before going there. Once you find an alternative you will be glad you took the time to look around. I just googled computer repair and found a... More...

On more than one occassion I have brought my computer into Geek Squad. Virus removal here, installation there. They've always done the job, at a hefty cost, but I assumed that was standard. The service was never great, and it took weeks to complete the work but again, I assumed it was all the standard, and the work got done. Well once I started bringing it in for more complicated issues they started having difficulty finding out what was wrong with it. They'd diagnose and run tests (all on my dime, of course) only to tell me they can't repair it and I'm out the $$ I paid... More...

  • Geek Squad service delays

I purchased a Toshiba laptop from Best Buy in May of 2009. The tracker pad went bad and Toshiba told me to take it in for replacement. The Toshiba rep gave me two options: get it to a Toshiba service center or take it in to Best Buy's Geek Squad. I'm writing this review because I made the wrong choice. The store failed to tell me their shuttle service only delivers to the service center on certain days. There was an initial delay of 4 days between the store's acceptance of the defective unit and its delivery to the service center. The current excuse for the delay in... More...

my computer just wouldn't turn on. it shut off one day, and never turned back on. so i took it back into best buy where i'd purchased the computer. they sent me over to 'geek squad'. first off, the kid thats helped me was maybe 22? wouldn't know what customer service was if it hit him in the face, and looked like he hadn't bathed in days. well it was $140 to see what was wrong with it.. an extra $35 for another test.. two and a half weeks later.. they have no idea whats wrong with it. they need to run more tests. they call me every few days, letting me know... • Deceptive Communication

I brought my 4 year old Apple to Best Buy Geek Squad due to sporadic shut downs. After reading information on the internet about similar problems, I informed the Geek Squad that I suspected a bad power supply. They informed me that they charged a $70 diagnostics fee. They also informed me that there would be a $100 charge to add 2 gigs of RAM about which I inquired. After three days, I got a call stating that the problem was in the Operating System and that a $130 services was needed to fix the problem. The 2 gigs of RAM were now going to cost $170, not the $100 originally quoted. Service... More...
